Day 1: Wednesday, July 14thWelcome to Tanzania! Plan to arrive by 5pm and you'll be received at Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR) with a warm welcome! Once you get settled, we'll be heading to our welcome dinner to enjoy our first night in Dar es Salaam!

Day 2: Thursday, July 15thToday you decide how you spend the day! You can head out for a full day safari at Mikumi National Park, where you'll spot amazing wildlife like elephants, lions, and more or you can have a spa day in Dar es Salaam to rest and recharge with massages, body scrubs, and facials!

Day 3: Friday, July 16thOur morning starts with a city tour of Dar es Salaam where you'll visit historical sights and learn about the culture! Next we'll hop on the ferry to Zanzibar! Once we arrive in Zanzibar, we'll check into our hotel and enjoy our first night dinner on the island!

Day 4: Saturday, July 17thGet ready to experience Zanzibar! Today we'll tour the iconic Stone Town, wander through the fragrant Spice Town, visit the historic Prison Island, and experience the culture at Maasai World. After lunch, the adventure continues at the turtle sanctuary where you'll get to swim and feed turtles in Nungwi Lagoon.
Tonight, you can rest in the room or join us at the Full Moon Party at Kendwa Rocks, one of Zanzibar's most iconic beach celebrations!

Day 5: Sunday, July 18thBeach club anyone? Today we'll spend the day at one of Zanzibar's stunning beach clubs soaking up the sun, sipping on drinks, enjoying great food and taking in the crystal clear Indian Ocean views!

Day 6: Monday, July 19thIt's our last full day in Zanzibar, so make it count on your free day! You can head to Mnemba Island for an unforgettable experience swimming with dolphins, take stunning shots on the water during a photoshoot that includes a dhow boat and a clear kayak, or enjoy your free day on your own time!

Day 7: Tuesday, July 20thIt's time to say goodbye to Zanzibar! Today we'll take the ferry back to Dar es Salaam and spend our last night in the city with a farewell dinner to close out an amazing trip!

Day 8: Wednesday, July 21stWe made it to the last day! We’ll pack our bags and head to the airport with amazing memories of Tanzania and a new HBCU family!
Flights land in the U.S. on Thursday, July 22nd.

FAQs
Arrival and departure flights will be from Julius Nyerere International Airport (DAR). Flights are not included in the trip price. Please book your spot on the trip BEFORE you book your flight!
We will be staying at a 4 star hotel in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar!
We will be taking a ferry ride, approximately 2 hours in length, from Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar. We will have ticketed, indoor seats on the ferry. We will not be flying from Dar to Zanzibar.
Yes, it is required. You must purchase travel insurance directly through the country’s portal, Zanzibar Insurance Corporation.
Please do not purchase a separate insurance policy. We will send out the information needed to apply for this insurance closer to the trip date. The travel insurance is approximately $50 USD.
Yes! You can choose to pay in full or pay with a monthly payment plan at check out!
We focus on HBCU Alumni but we welcome all Black travelers on our trips! There are usually 1 or 2 people on every trip that did not attend an HBCU but want to travel the world with us!
Yes, an e-visa is required for entry into Zanzibar. It is approximately $100 USD. We will be sharing information about applying for the visa closer to the trip date.
No, there are no vaccinations required for entry for US citizens departing from the US to Tanzania.
Note: The Yellow Fever vaccination is not required for entry for US citizens departing from the US to Tanzania. However, if you are traveling from a country where Yellow Fever is endemic, the Yellow Fever vaccination will be required. This also applies to any layover over 12 hours in countries where Yellow Fever is endemic. Please keep this in mind when purchasing your flights or traveling to other countries (ie Kenya) in the area before the trip.
Tanzania has a strict nationwide ban on single-use plastic carrier bags. Do not pack them in your luggage; small clear zip-top toiletry bags are permitted.
