Day 1: Friday, February 12thAkwaaba! Welcome to Ghana! Arrive today at Kotoka International Airport (ACC) where our team will greet you with a warm welcome and get you settled. We'll check into our 5 star beachfront hotel before dinner together.
Flights leave from the U.S. on Thursday, February 11th.

Day 2: Saturday, February 13thToday we explore Accra! We'll visit Black Star Square, the W.E.B. DuBois Center, Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and more as we take in the history and culture of Ghana's vibrant capital.
After our tour we'll head to one of Accra's local markets to pick up souvenirs to bring back home.
Then it's time to get dressed for our Welcome Dinner and a night out!

Day 3: Sunday, February 14thToday we'll visit the newly opened Shea Butter Museum to learn about the rich history and traditional process of making shea butter. Then we'll get to experience making our own shea butter to take home!
After our visit, we'll head back to the hotel to rest and freshen up for dinner in Accra.

Day 4: Monday, February 15thToday is a very special day. We'll visit Elmina Castle at Cape Coast, also known as the Door of No Return, where our ancestors took their last steps on the continent. This is a deeply moving and unforgettable experience that will stay with you long after you leave.
After Cape Coast we'll enjoy lunch before our cultural naming ceremony, performed by the Chief and elders, where you will receive your Ghanaian name.

Day 5: Tuesday, February 16thToday we'll start the morning at Aburi Botanical Gardens for our iconic photos underneath the palm trees!
After the gardens we'll head to a local Women's Vocational School for our service project. This school provides women with critical skills in areas like sewing, cosmetology, catering, and more, empowering them to build sustainable futures for themselves and their families by starting their own businesses.

Day 6: Wednesday, February 17thGet out your favorite swimsuit because today is all yours!
Enjoy the day at our beachfront hotel soaking up the sun on the beach, lounging by the pool, sipping at the bar, or treating yourself to a spa service. You can rest and recharge or explore Accra on your own!
After our free day, we'll get ready for our last dinner and night out in Ghana!

Day 7: Thursday, February 18thAll good things must come to an end! Today we pack our bags and head to the airport, leaving Ghana with unforgettable memories and a new HBCU family!
Flights land in the U.S. late Thursday, February 18th or Friday, February 19th.

Arrival and departures flights will be from Kotoka International Airport (ACC). Flights are not included in the trip price. Please book your spot on the trip BEFORE you book your flight!
We will be staying at Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra, or similar.
We strongly recommend travel insurance to cover any delays from the airline or issues you encounter in entering the country. You can compare the best travel insurance options for you here. We cannot provide refunds if you miss the flight or get delayed due to the airline. Travel insurance is your best option to recoup any lost funds due to airline cancellations or delays.
Yes! You can choose to pay in full or pay with a monthly payment plan at check out!
We focus on HBCU Alumni but we welcome all Black travelers on our trips! There are usually 1 or 2 people on every trip that did not attend an HBCU but want to travel the world with us!
Yes, the yellow fever vaccination is required for entry into Ghana. This vaccination cost is approximately $300 – $400 and is good for 10 years. If you are currently vaccinated against yellow fever, you do not need to get a second vaccination. We will provide a list of CDC locations where you can receive the yellow fever vaccinations.
Malaria pills are highly suggested but are not required for entry into Ghana. We will provide information for where you can obtain these malaria pills.
Yes, a visa is required for entry into Ghana. The Ghana visa application currently requires you to mail your physical passport along with other documents to the Ghanaian Embassy in Washington D.C. The cost is between $60 – $100 depending on processing speed you select.
