Day 1: Friday, December 11Welcome to Savannah! Plan to arrive between 8am - 12pm to check into our riverfront hotel!
To start our day, we’re having lunch at Shabazz Seafood from Netflix’s Fresh, Fried, and Crispy known for the best fish in Savannah!
After lunch, we’re heading to St. Helena Island, SC to begin our first Gullah Geechee tour with 5th generation Gullah descendants. Some of the highlights include Penn Center, Brick Baptist Church, and Fripp Plantation!
Next, we'll enjoy a low country seafood boil by a Gullah chef with shrimp, potatoes, corn, sausage and more!
Finally we’re headed back to Savannah to relax and enjoy a night out on River Street!

Day 2: Saturday, December 12Today we’re having an early breakfast then heading to Sapelo Island, GA. Our tour will be led by a direct descendant of the enslaved people brought to Sapelo in the early 1800s.
We’ll take a ferry ride to the island, visit the Hog Hammock community, learn about the African traditions that have survived today on Sapelo, and have lunch on the beach!
Next we’ll head back to Savannah to rest and enjoy the city. After our break we'll make our way to Bluffton, SC to Ma Daisy's Porch Restaurant to enjoy dinner with Gullah chef, Chef B! After dinne the night is yours to rest or go out on River Street!

Day 3: Sunday, December 13We made it to the last day but the fun is not over yet! You can enjoy the morning by exploring the city, taking a ride on the water taxi, or sleeping in! After the free morning, we’ll head to brunch so we can enjoy a meal at three time James Beard award winner, Mashama Bailey’s restaurant, The Grey!
She and her restaurant are featured in Chef’s Table on Netflix and other than it’s food, the restaurant is famous for being an old segregated Greyhound bus station now run by Bailey, the owner, head chef, and yes, a Black woman!
Once we're done with brunch we'll make our way to the airport with unforgettable memories of the Gullah Geechee culture and HBCU connections to last a lifetime!

Arrival and departures flights will be from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (SAV). Flights are not included in the trip price and must be booked by the individual separately. Please do not purchase airfare until you have received a confirmation e-mail confirming your reservations. Yes, you are able to drive instead of fly to meet us in Savannah! The valet parking fee at the hotel is $50 per day. Offsite parking is available nearby at Whitaker Street & Bryan Street Parking Garages.
We are staying at the downtown Savannah river front hotel, the Hyatt Regency Savannah!
We focus on HBCU Alumni but we welcome all Black travelers on our trips! There are usually 1 or 2 people on every trip that did not attend an HBCU but want to travel the world with us!
