Join us in Cartagena to enjoy the vibrant city, the culture, and nightlife that Colombia has to offer!
Itinerary

Day 1 :Bienvenidos a Colombia! Plan to arrive after 3pm and check in to our private boutique hotel! After you get settled, you can enjoy our private pool or explore the city! For dinner we’ll enjoy some authentic Colombian food prepared by a local chef and then explore Cartagena’s nightlife!

Day 2 :Today we’ll experience the real Cartagena! We’ll be immersed in the local culture and learn about the food, music, and people of Cartagena! After our tour we’ll get a chance to work with a service organization in a local Cartagena neighborhood! Be sure to take your iconic photo with the Palenqueras in their colorful dresses!
Next we’re heading back to the hotel to rest before dinner!

Day 3 :Today we’re going to the Afro Colombian town of Palenque! Many traditional African practices are still alive and practiced in Palenque today! We’ll get a chance to tour local neighborhoods, meet the people that live in Palenque, support their businesses, and experience traditional music and dance!

Day 4 :Mud bath anyone? Today we’re going to El Totumo Volcano to take a dip in the “Fountain of Youth”! This mud bath has medicinal components that leave your skin baby soft and is a must do when visiting Cartagena! Next we’ll rest at the hotel and get ready for our last night out in Cartagena!

Day 5 :We made it to the last day! We’ll make our way to the airport with unforgettable memories and connections! The trip may be over but you’ll return relaxed and rejuvenated with a new HBCU family!

Arrival and departures flights will be from Rafael Núñez International Airport (CTG). Flights are not included in the trip price. Please book your spot on the trip BEFORE you book your flight!
We have rented out a boutique hotel in Centro (downtown) Cartagena for our group. The hotel has 13 rooms, 6 house staff, made to order breakfasts, chef dinners, a pool, and 24/7 security! It is walking distance from everything from historical points to nightlife!
You can compare the best travel insurance options for you here. We strongly recommend travel insurance to cover any delays from the airline or issues you encounter in entering the country. We can not provide refunds if you miss the flight or get delayed due to the airline. Travel insurance is your best option to recoup any lost funds due to airline cancellations or delays.

We focus on HBCU Alumni but we welcome all Black travelers on our trips! There are usually 1 or 2 people on every trip that did not attend an HBCU but want to travel the world with us!
